From upright posts to a picket balustrade

The photographs show two stages of the build: the deck boards and upright posts in place, followed by the addition of the top rails and vertical pickets. The timber balustrade defines the outdoor space while keeping views through to the garden.

In our previous Durban North update, the boards had deliberately been left long before their finishing cut. The latest views show the difference that a straight deck edge and the balustrade make to the overall appearance.

A closer look at the work in progress

The balau boards extend the living area beyond the sliding doors, creating approximately 15 m² of outdoor deck space. The interior view shows the matching timber rails and pickets alongside the deck surface.

This is a progress update, with tools and materials still on site and finishing work under way. We will share the finished result once the job is complete.
